Working with Solomon’s Venus Planetary Pentacles

I want to share how I've personally worked with Solomon’s Pentacles, also known as the planetary Pentacles. This is a topic I receive many questions about, especially around two things: how they are activated and what you actually do with them once they’re active.

While every practitioner’s process will differ slightly, the foundation of the work remains the same. What changes are the correspondences, the planetary day, and the current you’re intentionally aligning with. And in truth my process evolves the more I work with these.

The Structure of Planetary Pentacle Work

The activation process itself does not shift from planet to planet. What shifts are the planetary correspondences. You are simply tuning the same method to a different frequency.

Each Pentacle is worked with on its planetary day and in alignment with that planet’s nature. The elements, timing, and focus are adjusted accordingly. This consistency is what gives the work stability, while the planetary current gives it specificity.

Inspiration from The Sorcery of Solomon

This particular working was inspired by The Sorcery of Solomon by Sara L. Mastros. One of the things I deeply appreciate about this book is that she gives names to the Pentacles rather than referring to them only by number.

Because there are multiple Pentacles for each planet, working only with numbers can become confusing. Naming them based on their function and wording brings clarity and intention into the practice.

Another valuable aspect of this book is the breakdown of the language written within each Pentacle. Many practitioners feel hesitant working with unfamiliar languages, and understandably so. It’s important to know what you are invoking, calling, or sealing into your work. I often adjust or refine elements of my practice so that I fully understand and resonate with what I’m working with.

The Second Pentacle of Venus

The Seal of Sheba

For this working, I chose the Second Pentacle of Venus, referred to by Mastros as the Seal of Sheba.

The versicle associated with this Pentacle comes from Song of Songs 8:6 and reads, “Set me as a seal upon your heart and upon your arm, for love is as strong as death.” When read as part of the love story between Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, these words take on a powerful Venusian resonance.

The phrase traditionally translated as “upon your arm” can also refer more specifically to the bicep or shoulder. This is why some choose to mark this seal on the left arm. Throughout the book, Mastros explains these linguistic nuances in detail, which adds depth and context to the work.

What Happens After a Pentacle Is Activated

Once a Pentacle is activated, I treat it as a talisman. Each one has its own place and is set aside until I intentionally work with that planetary energy again.

When I want to call on that current, I bring the Pentacle back into active use. This may look like meditating with it, gazing into the sigil, or incorporating it into candle magick. I will often speak a few simple words or an incantation written specifically for that moment.

The work does not need to be elaborate to be effective. Presence and intention carry far more weight than complexity.

Working with Printed Pentacles

I’ll be sharing more on this work soon, including access to the Pentacles themselves. Thank you for being here and for sharing this space with me.
